I'm new to chickens; mine are 10 weeks old. I'm thinking of getting an auto door opener and wonder what is the best kind. I've been reading about different ones and am wondering if the Fleming Basic Auto Door Opener is a good one. Do you have one and are you pleased with it? Pros and Cons. If not Fleming, what kind? Thanks. Kay in NC

I'm Replying to my own post.
Doesn't anybody have a Fleming Basic Auto Door Opener? I just want to know if you are pleased with it. I don't want to spend a lot of money without knowing if it is a good product. Is it easy to install as I read online? Reliable? Thanks, Kay in NC

I can't comment on the Fleming, but I just installed an Ador1 Automatic chicken door just this week.
It is actually in a free range door of my run, because my immediate run/coop are very secure, so I don't need to close the pop door at night.

So far it is working flawlessly.

7.5.15 lynnehd, Thank you for taking the time to respond. I'll check out the ador1 auto door... Kay in NC

Not familiar with the Fleming but I've had a Pullet-Shut automatic door for a year now and I love it. Works perfectly with no problems. Keep in mind that my coop is attached to a covered run so the door has some protection from the elements. I have a solar powered version. I like that it opens side ways like a regular door and not up and down like guillotine.

7.5.15 haemony, Thanks for taking the time to reply. I don't think I have enough room for a side opening door but I'll check it out.... Kay in NC

I have the advanced door from that company & I love it! The only difference in the basic model is that you have to adjust the timer as daylight changes. The company that makes it is from Lancaster County PA & they are awesome when you ask questions. Mine worked flawlessly for 4 weeks & then last week, a day before I was going away, it did not open in the morning. They answered my email right away & told me to call them immediately. Denise helped me fix it over the phone & it worked great while I was away all weekend. Seems the electronics can get knocked around in shipping (they feel they have corrected that problem) & it was an easy fix. I only bought the motor, not the whole apparatus, but I think it's the best around. I liked the chicken guard, but the light sensor would not have worked for me. The auto time change on the advanced model is fantastic. Their customer service is awesome! Good luck.

7.7.15 Cindy in PA, Thank you so much for your response and evaluation of the Fleming Advanced door opener. I had just about decided to get one from Fleming and after reading your review, I'm leaning toward their Advanced model. I'm also glad you mentioned where it was made and that they are helpful if one has questions or problems. I really do appreciate your help. Thanks, Kay in NC
