Automated coop door question

I know it's not as"cool" but why would you need to be able to open it froze your phone anyway? And it (the door controller) would either need WiFi or cellular service to do so, anyway, right?

My birds are on the roost by 830 so my door is set to close at 9. I have the door opening at 6 but they usually hang out a while longer before wandering out. I know they are annoyed with me because breakfast isn't waiting for them when the door opens like it was when I was manually opening it lol.

Back to the cell phone thing, all you'd need is a smart outlet. And I'm still not understanding why you're needing a battery if you're using 110 from the landscaping. You just need a transformer to convert from 110 to 12V and then your on/off controller to send and stop power to the antenna motor.

The Antenna comes with three wires. Ground +RED+BLUE. When current is on both the blue and red wire the antenna opens. Disconnect power from the blue and the antenna retracts.
I was adding the battery to have constant 12v on the red wire readily available and would like the control the current on the blue wire via my smart insteon switch or transformer plugged into my smart receptacle. Hope that explains it a little. thanks

Ideally I would add a (controlled) door to let the girls free range in my garden when I'm not home (Travel often for work)

Just purchased this...insteon low voltage/contact closure.

my current insteon dual smart receptacle set to power up at dusk and switch off at dawn.

I don't expect to use both......also I have a 12v9ah battery from my kids power wheel. and a 12dc transformer from an old laptop.

FYI the chickens survived with the run access left open all weekend :)
