automatic chicken coop door

I've been searching on here for ideas for a automatic coop door and have decided to go with the car antenna motor one. So today I got the motor for $10 off Craigslist and don't really want to start cutting wires intel I know what I'm doing. If you have done this before could you please give me some advisee on how to get this started.

Wow...we used a drapery motor, with an ac adapt. What will you be using to power that - is it 12V - do you have a dc power source?

Yes it's 12v. I'm getting a 5 amp adapter and timer to run it off of.
