automatic chicken fountain with wire base

I found this automatic chicken waterer at a feed store in Apache Junction Arizona while visiting friends! I packed it in my luggage to get it home on the plane. I made a wire base to keep area cleaner and dry. I am excited to see how it will work in the summer months!!

Does it fill itself? Having one that fills itself would be nice. I have a reservoir feeding a line with nipples, but it needs to be refilled periodically.

Yes it has a float in the middle, it has a metal shield over it. You hook it up to a garden hose and there you go! It works like an automatic horse tank on a very small scale. The water level goes down and it fills back up!! You can adjust the float for water depth. I suppose if someone had a coop in the back 40 with no running water you could use a 55 gal barrel to feed it with. I like that it has the little top on it to keep them out of it!!
