Hi! I know there have been a few topics on automatic coop doors, but I have some specific questions about certain types that I was hoping I could get answered. First, I'd prefer to have the door on a timer rather than open by a photo-sensor. Second, my run is about 4' high and the pop door of the coop sits at about 2.5' (coop is on stilts), so if the door has a motor that needs to sit above it there isn't a whole lot of room; I'd most likely have to install the door on the inside of the coop. Third, it has to be either battery or solar powered as I do not have power at the coop.

Now that the background info has been added, the two coop doors I'm looking at are the ChickenGuard Extreme door combo https://www.chickenguard.com/product/chickenguard-combi-extreme/ and the Pullet-Shut chicken door https://chickendoors.com/product/left-side-standard-pullet-shut-door/. About the ChickenGuard: is it possible for it to be unable to close due to debris? The pop door of my coop isn't super high off the floor of the coop, and while it tends to remain debris-free sometimes my flock gets a bit overzealous with their scratching! And I guess I could ask the same question of the Pullet-Shut door. My main issues with the former are that it's string/cable driven and also the possible "clogging" issue; the issues with the latter are that I would prefer if it had an actual control panel rather than a magnet and that it's not quite as aesthetically pleasing as a sliding pop door (yeah, I know -_- ). Plus it's an extra $50. Thanks for any input!

I have the regular Chicken Guard model. Yes debris can keep it from closing properly. Ideally the pop door opening should be set up a little bit from floor level to prevent this. Mine is about 6" above floor. Verrry hard to see in this photo but this is from the inside of the coop, the bedding as you can see is still a few inches below the pop door opening.

Thank you very much for the information! I think I might go with the Pullet-Shut door then, as I'm not sure I have enough vertical space to lift the door AND mount the ChickenGuard.

I have a Pullet-Shut door and am very happy with it. I have the solar option and the light sensor but can override that and set manually set open and close according to time if I choose. Have not had any trouble with it whatsoever.
