Automatic coop door

I love my Omlet door. I like that it opens sideways instead of guillotine. It has a safety feature that will open back up if a chicken is in the door and then will close again. I tried it on my own arm and it works perfectly. Some of the guillotine’s will just stop if it detects a chicken and not re-open and re-close. I have read horror stories about chickens getting stuck. Some folks do not like the sensor option because of the delay, but this doesn’t bother me because my rooster crows inside the coop in the early morning and it’s muffled a bit more than when he’s outside. So far, it has been a great option for me.
I also have an Omlet door and am very happy with it. I don't mind setting the timer, which runs on AA batteries. I change the batteries every 3-4 months. It can tell you battery power so you don't have to guess. Highly recommend.

I've had my two Omlet doors for 3 years and love them. It was easy for me to install. The timer works perfect but like mentioned above, the light sensor is very sensitive and will open at the crack of light.
It also wasn't an arm and leg to purchase. I bought a green one that shipped right away and I had to wait a bit for a grey color one.

Buy a Runchicken t-50 and be done. It uses ambient light sensor so you could shine a led flashlight on it and it still won’t open. It has a safety sensor on it in case it starts to close on a chicken it goes back to the up position. I tried it using my hand and it worked perfectly. It also can be connected to your phone through the app and you can change the factory settings if you want to what suits your schedule. It is gear driven so no strings to worry about breaking. They have videos on YouTube if you would like to watch before buying.

Runchicken def gets good reviews. But also some sour ones.. one concern I have is that the sensor can’t be mounted farther from the door and my mini run where the door is will have a roof over it for winter, so on overcast days ( which is 60% of our winter) the door may not open.🤔

That’s great. But right now at $200 a piece, Omlet is more expensive than Run Chicken, Maticoopx, Chicken Guard and many others.

You can set whatever time you want on the app and it bypasses the sensor.

I saw this one on amazon, haven’t tried it but the reviews seemed good. The only thing people said was the sensor doesn’t work if the unit or coop is in the shade so they had to keep it on the timer🤷🏼‍♀️
