I'm thinking of getting an automatic coop door for my ducks just for in the mornings. Since my coop doesn't fit in my run I need to figure out how to attach it to the run in order for the automatic to work safely. The run I have is made from chicken wire and a metal frame and the coop had a smaller door at the bottom of a larger door that swings open. I'll try to add pictures in the morning of my set up. I would love any input or advice on automatic coop doors!

Thanks! Which ones are safest tho? I read some decapitated chickens
You want to be careful of ones that have an rod that raises/lowers the door. If a system works that way, it needs to be able to detect a blockage so that it can reverse and not crush the chicken.

I use and recommend Chicken Guard (though there are other good brands). It raises/lowers the door via a string, so it won't be able to push down against the chicken. Mine has been going strong for 6+ years.
