Hello everyone,

I have been thinking of getting an automatic chicken coop door. Does anyone else have one? Any recommendations? Pros & cons. Good companies? I would appreciate any information!

I have been looking at auto coop doors from the standpoint of just looking lol as I run chicken tractors ( mobile pens ) and I am afraid of the thought that one of my chickens would get left out to predators at night if I was a free ranger. This tends to worry me, but It may work great.

I have an auto door that goes from my coop to my run. (rats/mice where getting in) It's been 100% ever since I got it. And I've never had a chicken stuck out. It closes then opens to let a stragler back in. I have it running from solor and it uses an "eye" to open & close with sun up & sun down.

I just ordered another one for the outside door. I don't always free-range the flock, but when I do, I would like to know the door will be shut even if I fall asleep in front of the TV and forget!

I got mine from chickendoors.com and cannot recommend them enough.

Thats awesome. Thats where my inexperience comes in. I have thought about this for my stationary quarantine coop, but didnt know if it would lock out a chicken etc. Thanks for the info!!!!!!

I bought one off line thats 110 volt powered and is plugged into a timer.I just set the timer for open and close times. Some predators still hunt in the early hours of the day,so i wouldnt want one with a photo electric eye.I set it to open around 9am and close just after dark.Google add-a-motor.These were originally designed as auto curtain motors....
