Automatic door for prefab coop

Probably depends on what auto door you're looking at.

Installing inside can work as long as there's adequate clearance for the direction the door moves in (up/down, out, side to side) and as long as it's not running on a light sensor that also ends up inside, as that could probably interfere enough with the sensor to cause the door to not open/close at the right time.

My auto door is an inside install but I don't have any knowledge of how easy/hard it'd be to install in/around metal framing in a metal coop.

I have a Run Chicken T50, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be able to get installed on that coop in normal vertical orientation. The sideways door wouldn’t even be used, just the opening as it has its own door. Not knowing if the dimensions fit exactly, and because of the metal coop frame - I’d likely adapt it with strips of wood in between.

Smart to adapt with wood strips! That’s essentially what the issue is - the 1/2” or so the door frame sticks out from the wall. Thanks!
