I am thinking about moving my automatic door from the coop to the run. This would give me the same protection but allow me to control when the chickens leave the run as opposed to leaving the coop. I currently have a hen with chicks and they stay in a covered place in the run rather than the coop. So this means that I have to go out and close the run door and open it in the morning to give the hen and chicks protection (the rest of the chickens are in the coop with the door closed). What do you think? Pros, Cons.
