Automatic Door Problem

Looking for advice...we just installed an automatic chicken coop door that opens by itself at 6am on a timer in the morning and closes at 9:45 pm at night by itself. Tonight was the second night that we used it and we watched it come down right on top of two chickens sitting in the coop doorway at closing time. Does anyone have any experience with this? We paid almost $300 for the door and our chickens (10 week olds) have been inside every night at 9:45 before but this head/body partially in the doorway has us worried. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

You can try a little light in the coop in the evening (on a timer so it doesn't run all night), to lure them inside. They may find it dark and spooky at that age.

I'm suprised the amount of money you have paid for the door and it doesn't have a sensor, I'm from London uk and I have an auto door with a sensor if anything is in the way it won't close, can be a pain if the chickens are in the way but when they move it will close anyway so not a problem.
