Automatic egg turner questions... and maybe another

This may seem like a silly question but on the 18th day when I remove the egg turner should I wait till about the time I put them in to start incubation or just whenever?

Next question. How fast will the internal egg temp drop? I'm afraid to candle. I'm only incubating 12 eggs (white, green, and brown) should I do one and put it back and wait a bit or do them as fast as I can or what's thr best way.

It took me a minute to get what you were saying, but I think I got it....lol No, anytime is fine. Some people do it at the begining of day 18 some at the end and some don't do it until the 19th. Whenever works for you.

It takes a while before the internal temps drop and you have to consider that the hens will leave the nest to do their thing as well. Some bators now have a cool down period on the incubator to simulate this process. It's usually recommended to have them out and back in w/in 1/2 hour. I personally, pull one out, take my time candling and put it back and then pull the next egg. With only 12 eggs I don't see you having any issues with temps. Now the green eggs, might give you problems...lol I don't generally have any browns that are too dark to candle, but my greens give me a problem...lol
 
I feared the green eggs would be difficult to candle. I guess we'll do our best and hope for the best. We made a homemade candler our of and oatmeal can and flashlight... tried it on unincubated egg and it works beautifully on white eggs and ok on the brown and green. Guess we'll see Friday (day 7). I figure we should be able to see something then.

I just candled a egg. We have a chick. Omg I'm going to be a grandma! I couldn't be more excited. I turned the egg upside-down tell me I didn't kill it.
 
Oh I was very gentle. Like it was a ticking hand grenade. I want to run out to the coop and show the hens.
 
Oh I'm sure. My rooster doesn't like visitors after they've gone to roost. He told me this by pecking me in the head one night when I snuck into get eggs
