What type of pellets do you feed? Last year I messed up and bought a bag of turkey grower that was pellets. My quail would not touch the stuff. I had to slowly mix the pellets back with crumbles over several months to get rid of the feed. I would rather they ate pellets, less waste than crumbles especially with all the crumble dust that they can't eat.

My breeders get an 18% layer pellet which I add more protein to by mixing in dried black soldier fly larvae. If you want your birds to eat pellets, they will eat them if that's all they get. I agree, the crumbles get wasted. My quail ignore feed dust.

That's great to know. I already use Black Soldier Fly Larva to decompose my quail manure. I'll just collect the crawl off and dry them out. Do you grind them up or leave the dried larvae whole?

I leave them whole.
