So I wondered if automatic feeders don't work with ducks? And what do you think about this?

With my ducks, no matter how much I feed them, they act like they are starving. They seem to always be eating all day no matter what, chewing on grass, poking their bills in the mud and grass. ALL the time.

So I'm having doubts about if the automatic feeders that people use for chickens would work with ducks? Would it be wasting money (on the feeder, and the feed)?

Ducks eat A LOT. They also beg for food. This doesn’t necessarily mean they’re starving.

I would say it’s wasting money to buy a fancy automatic feeder, simply because they don’t need one. But I wouldn’t say it’s wasting anything to make a cheap one. I’ve made a fairly simple one that lasts two full days with five ducks before I have to fill it again (granted they free range in the middle of the day so if your ducks don’t free range they’ll probably eat more). It’s a simple pvc pipe with a “catch” at the end, fill it up and let gravity do the work to refill it as the ducks eat.

Will you waste food or use more food than normal with autofeeders and ducks though? (I should have also had this in the opening post.)

I've thought about doing this, but I feel like that would give chipmunks the ability to get more of the food than they do now. How do you feel about it regarding chipmunks/squirrels/etc?
