Automatic Pop Door Opener, Opinions?

To bad you couldn't find a way to get power to your coop it would make life easier.

You are so right! My hubby just ran power to the barn, which is a step closer to the coop Hopefully he'll get sick of moving extension cords, and he'll help me install electricity to the coop next.

Although, digging trench and laying pipe (and busting irrigation lines) out to the barn was expensive. It might be a while before I can afford to run it to the coop

I have the ador and i like it - but there have been a couple of instances where it just misfires and doesn't open or doesn't close.  It makes me a bit nervous now wondering if it will work, but I do like that it is pretty darn predator proof when it works and has the light sensor so it adjusts to the shortening/lengthening daylight.  I am not familiar with the other one, but look into the add a motor on amazon.com.  I know others who have used that, it is a similar concept where you use your own door. 

It occurred to me that I might have a light sensor issue to contend with. My neighbor down the way works nights. In bad weather he sometimes parks his work truck at a distance but close enough to my property to where his headlights shine right at the run where the pop door is located while the engine warms. Do you think your Ador's light sensor and open/close times would go haywire because of the headlights?

The technology with the light sensor is kind of cool, I know it takes light readings over a period of time (I think 5 minutes) and averages the readings and doesn't open until a certain threshold is reached. That way it won't activate and open if you accidentally hit it with a flashlight or a beam of headlights. I would think you would be fine as long as your neighbor wasn't super close and shining his beams directly at the sensor. I think you can also purchase a sensor on a long wire that most people use when they mount the door inside, and string the sensor outside. You could probably buy that sensor and run it to a different side of the coop that wouldn't be affected by your neighbors truck lights.
