Automatic Trough Waterers?

That's insane.

Use a stock tank auto-waterer. and your own tank. I actually use plastic 5" gutters. Biggest problem with ducks you already know - they get everything dirty. Your tank is going to have to be frequently emptied - of water, old food, and dirt. Make sure its something you can empty easily.

Something like this.

That is not, in my mind, a $85 trough - but that's what they are charging, after accounting for the $12 float.

I fill mine with pressure from a 275 gallon tote, filled by rainwater. Depending on your source, you may - or may not - need to reduce yours. Typical household is 60-80 psi, but you have line loss in the hose if you run it that way, which increases with length, and is strongly affected by hose diameter. Lots of variables. ...and you can always only partially open the spigot.
