I am currently thinking about hooking up one of those 5 gallon bucket waterers. I got the idea from a few members on this site. What my question is what do you hook up to the end for the chickens to mdrink out of? I saw those little cups but I think they are kinda expensive. Is there any other cheaper or homemade cups out there? Thanks, Chickenman8

I use the automatic waterers for dogs/cats from Tractor Supply - $16.99 each here at our store, hooks directly to a hose - they have fresh water all the time. It's way cheaper than the water cups at the feedstores, although you can put multiple lines of those in cages? (I dont have cages) I put marbles in the chick run/brooder water, so they dont drown in the bowl. It's in the background, behind the Frizzle. It mounts to all kinds of surfaces, or I like Zipties!
The cheapest water cups I have found are $21 here at the feedstore, for the smaller ones.
I have a deeper livestock tub with an autofiller - but accidents happen in deeper tubs - I lost a splash cochin this morning to a livestock trough.

Watch how deep your bucket is?

Good luck! Simplicity is great.

Those red waterer cups are a standard game bird water cup they sell, online and at feed stores - the ones here that I referred to for $21 each, plus all the plastic tubing you run, pvc piping, etc. You can get them online at Cutlers supply for less plus shipping. They're pretty permanent when you install piping.

Little Giant 2500 GameBird Fountain
Miller Little Giant waters up to 200 birds per fountain. Holds up to 2 pints of water. Bowl Dimensions 6-1/2" dia, 2-1/2" deep
$ 16.40

Cutler also has alot of other cups and feeders for other options.

I'll go there when my buildings are more permanent, for now, we're staying flexible.

Mine may be "redneck", but I only put one $7 - 50' hose and one $16.99 automatic pet waterer, and they're good to go. If I need more in another area, I get another one, put a splitter on the faucet or a y at the hose end, and have another where I want it.
