Automatic Watering ??

First timer with six three month old pullets.
I don't know when and if they will ever take to this watering thing...

I purchased this on eBay. I read that sometimes young chicken's beak's aren't big enough to trip the valve. I fill it up. They drink it but can't figure out how to refill it. I have it on the highest sensitivity adjustment on the pressure regulator.

Do these things work?
Any tips out there?

Is it a little tight when you press it for water? If so perhaps to much pressure or vacuum lock in the lines? I use the vertical kind but pressure can be an issue in both.

I've seen posts on here where people have problems with older chickens using them also. I don't care for that style, as they can still get dirt/shavings in the cups also.

I use horizontal nipples and don't have a problem getting my 2 - 3 week old chicks to use them and don't get any dirt/bedding in them. I'm away for a week and don't worry about my chicks/chickens getting water or food with my set up and no one is looking after them. My chicks will be 7 weeks old tomorrow.
