Hi all.
Help please!
I have 6 cream legbar chicks at 1-3 weeks old.
I am getting really confused with how to sex them. This is so my luck when I paid more for autosexing chick eggs!
I thought the solid distinct stripe was a girl (which seems to agree with my online readings) but a very very very very experienced CLB breeder has advised me that a cream dot on the head means girl and no dot means boy and ignore everything else?
I am looking for definitive signs of boy/girl?
Thanks

I mean that's 50/50 essentially since it's an odd number of chicks.

Yup. Three females, four males is around the average hatch rate.
Thanks! Just had another one hatch... Also white spot on head. Male?

What are you looking at to choose whether m/f?

Annoyingly the very quiet, weak one is one of the (rare!) girls too. This isn't going to plan!

Autosexing means that chicks can be sexed by pattern at birth. This trait is passed down to future generations, unlike that of sex-links.

White dot on the head + 'blueish' and red = cockerel
Chipmunk stripes + no dot = pullet.

Thank you. This was my understanding. I am most confused as to why the breeder has advised that a dot on the head = girl.
