Ok, so after numerous attempts, the eating up of my limited monthly bandwidth with freeware, and the attempted usage of the link provided in the above thread to resize pics, I still can't seem to upload an avatar. I can upload a picture of the required size, but even when using the shrink pictures site, even when it shows the file being the correct number of kb's, it saves to my desktop a larger file size and the forum refuses it. Hours to upload an avatar? I must be an avatard

I'm not sure if this will help, maybe you already tried this, but I don't use the resize image site. I just go to uploads, choose a file, and then click the resize thing that is right here on BYC. It is right under the "choose file" button. You can resize it To the size you need, there is even an "avatar" option. I hope this helps
