I don't have records but when I was growing up we had a flock of black sex links that we had got from the grain store. We always tried to keep around 12. I don't remember most of them but I know I had at least 4 of them were 8-12 yrs old that we still had when I left home, my dad gave them away so don't know what happened after that. We lived in So. Maine and it would get pretty cold. They didn't have a pen, they slept up on a roost in the hay loft of our drafty old barn. We never really let them out or in, there was always a door open so they let themselves out and in. The only thing I did was just feed and count them every night. I will keep records this time 'round but my current flock isn't even 1 yet so it will be sometime before I can find it out!
