Avian Flu Found In Tyson Chickens

Wow!! I notice this is not big news everywhere and how they're keeping it hush hush. Mark my words, if it was one of our birds, they'd be making a big fuss about how "dangerous" backyard chickens are....

I just hope my Grandma in Kansas City doesn't hear the story or she will totally freak. She's already worried I will get sick from my poultry.

This is not "the bird flu" we have all been hearing about. Just an avian flu.

Tyson just had to remove their "no antibiotics" label from their packaging also because they were using antibiotics.......

pips&peeps :

.

Yeah, I know but my Grandma is still gonna freak if she hears it. I'm not scared but she will be terrified. She came to visit and watched the news every day and then got scared because there were some shootings in the Quad Cities area that we were living where it was not safe. I'm worried about her she freaks at everything nowdays.

Stories like that do make me freak. I've heard of a couple of folks in Texas losing their flock to the CDC because of an avian flu outbreak in the area, even when their chickens didn't appear to be infected!

This is not surprising but what I do find interesting is in the article (short as it was) is the statement that Tyson is going to bury 15,000 culled chickens. From all I have read about how Avian flu is handled is the culled birds must be incinerated because the virus can live out side a host for some time.
Things like that make me glad I do not eat meat.

It's not the N5H1 that's gonna do us all in..this one's just the chicken version...
have a cookie and a glass of milk...
