It’s a terribly sad situation for the company and very sad that their stock will get culled. Hopefully next year will be better. I do think this prepares us all to be more careful. I had to seal my flock in and I feel terrible. Right now a lot of the migrant birds are returning. I’m thinking by the summer , once the sickly birds die out, this should hopefully return to normal, where they can feee range for a bit. In the fall things may or not peak up again with the migration.

In the video they said they would be working to preserve genetics and some orders would need to be changed or cancelled for this year.

Sussex is one

They just shipped my order and had to substitute. Said no more of this breed this year.

Did they tell you what breeds they gave you instead of the Sussex?

No. I called, and they said they could substitute from others breeds in order. Was ordering a M. Don't know what this will be. They probably always have males of Red Star

Thank you for that info. They sent pullorum certificate with original order info. I bet they're swamped trying to fix orders.

Oh my that's terrible! Avian Flu is like covid in chickens, but more deadly and it spreads fast. I saw that cases were on the rise on the news a few days ago. I just got some baby chicks, they are not from this hatchery, but they all seem to be very happy and healthy, and I hope nothing happens to the 11 lehgorns I have. Poor chickens!
