Avian Flu on Western Kentucky Poultry Farm

I did a search and this didn't come up, so sorry if it's already been posted.

It sounds like it's on some type of factory farm, although it wasn't really clear from the article. Seeing as how they're having to "de-populate" 20,000 chickens...What have we been saying about these places and their lack of genetic diversity.

This is not the highly pathogenic H5N1 that caused such a hubub in Asia. Avian flu is not unheard of here, but the really bad stuff is not in the United States. If something spreads like wildfire, it will be in those huge monocultures of birds in factory farms, not in our small backyard flocks.
