I just read some information about viruses and Neem products. I have an infection of this virus in my wild birds and I am going to try something...mot sure yet. Maybe putting some Neem leaf brewed tea in the bird bath. My poor hummingbirds are covered with warts. I took my feeders down for 4 weeks at the suggestion of the Songbird Rescue in my town and was told that would let the infection die off but maybe there are just so many infected in the area. I feel obliged to help. Anyway here is the link to the Neem article and there is a section on chickens I thought you all might want to see.

I haven't any idea about the wild birds or how to help them but I am going to wish you luck in your endeavors in this area and really hope you do some good for them ......

Welcome to BYC!

There is a fungus that attacks the tongues of the hummers. I am not sure if what you are seeing is the same thing. But it comes from the mold that grows in the feeders. So everyone that feeds the hummers needs to clean the feeders out really well several times a week, especially in hot weather as this grows this fungus.

Good luck treating your hummers. I LOVE to feed them too and I try to keep them as healthy as I can at my feeders. But we can't change how others work their feeder areas.

Welcome to our flock!
