Aviary For Quail

When we build our Peafowl Aviary, we designed it to be just that.........Something to walk in.

Although this is not a quail aviary and I know you probably don't need anything his size but here are pics of our peafowl aviary. I think that ours is a medium size.

The measurements are 28 feet long - 10 feet wide - 8 feet tall.

THANKS FOR THE PICTURES, BOY WHAT A NICE JOB YOU'VE DONE. PLEASE IF SOME HAVE AVIARIES FOR QUAIL, IF YOU WOULD POST SOME PICTURES.

"larger the better". I agree!

Yep, large enough that they can spread their wings to exercise them. The muscles in a birds wing deteriate very quickly if not exercised regularly.

You can build large aviaries to walk in "walk in aviary", patio aviary which are much larger than a cage.

A coop is an enclosure, cage, or pen, of any size, usually large and usually with bars or wires, in which fowls or other small animals are confined for fattening, transportation, etc.

I'm in the process of building an aviary for my Coturnix. It's 8'W x 12'L x 8'H. Made simple 4x8 panels that just screw together. Wanted something I could move easily. Wife wants it 16ft long. Seems a bit much for a bird that doesn't fly, but she wants to add other birds as well. Anyone know what other kinds of birds that would get along with Coturnix? Parakeets, cockatiels, dove, I assume anything that flys.

I have Cockatiels with my Coturnix right now, and the one my rooster keeps picking on is with my button quail and Parakeets. Not sure about a male button quail with a male coturnix, though. I've also kept Zebra finches and doves with them. They don't even bother the babies when they fledge and fall to the ground.

I have button quail in a small aviary. 3.5 feet by 12 feet and 6 foot high. There are about 14 of them now with a hen on 11 eggs at the moment. They share their home with canaries. I think the bigger breed of quail the larger the space is needed.
Some people call large cages aviaries, which I do not. An aviary for me is something you are able to walk into.

I agree with an aviary being something you can walk in. If you can't and there's enough room to fly its a flight cage. :)

I converted a 12 foot by 24 foot greenhouse into an aviary. It is insulated and heated with a wood stove (I live in northern maine). It is home to 16 cockatiels, 12 parakeets and about thirty button quail, and one crippled rooster. Everybody gets along fine. The button quail raise their own young in there and love to sit by tne wood stove in cold weather. I use the deep litter system for about half of the flooring and stones for the rest. The sex ratio of the buttons is not the best (skewed toward too many males), but there is enough room in there that eveybody gets along pretty well. The important thing is to keep them occupied. They are endlessly curious and love to tear sod apart and greens. They are very tame but don't like to be handled.

my aviarys arent as big as kuntry girls (which by the way is a gorgeous aviary and id just love one so big!!) but you can 'walk in' (they are tall enough) they housed our giant hangoor rabbits first, but since the rabbits run got upgraded i use these for quail :)
