i am building a 30x65 aviary and i am just starting and i am not going to start out with ruddies because of my inexperience but eventually i want to raise them, or atleast have a pair, how big will i need to make the pond for them?

For Ruddies and any other divers you need to have half your pen or close to it be in water with the dippest part being around three foot. It also needs have free water pumped in it daily. We run our well 24/7

Thanks kanga! But i have decided to keep it simple and start out with a pen like this
400
it will be easier to clean and i will only keep one pair of ducks in each pen so i will build a few i am going to have one for 3 or 4 mandies, one for a pair of bahama pintails, one for my 4 call ducks, and one for a pair one some sort of teal because it will be easier to clean as there is a drain on the bottom, do you think this will be suitable kanga?

That is a great looking and well built pen for brooding some ducklings or raising land based birds but I wonder what what hardware cloth would do long term to the bottom of a ducks foot. Has anyone else tried raising waterfowl in pens like this?

I raise calls on wire and they do real well! But that is only during the breeding season to keep my calls pure
