Aviation thread!

I apologize for my naivety. I didn't realize that EAA by us was highly renowned. When we go, it's for my dad, who meets us there from Minnesota. He was in the AF, and in fact, I was born on Langley AF Base, Virginia, in 1960. 🫣

Thus, now I'll share some from last year. Dad would know what everything was but I don't. The night show where they made words or pictures they said was the largest drone show at the time anywhere. The fireworks in the air was mostly done by airplanes.

The airshow near me, which is the Oregon International air show, has a night like that too. It's called KABOOM and has a bunch of fireworks and a drone light show and planes with fireworks on the tips of the wings which is pretty cool :)

Wait where do you get all of these photos? You're lucky :) . All that I get flying overhead is airliners and then the ANG F-15s, but they are too high to get good pictures. I need to spend some time at the airport to catch them taking off, because I have seen some pretty spectacular photos of them low after takeoff when there are humid mornings...

Well, I took them. :p I've been a "plane kid" my whole life and I like to take pics when I get the opportunity. Some of these were taken in Yuma, AZ. Some in Mesa, Some out on the desert watching the tanker crews fight brush fires. I would jump at the opportunity to ride along with a fire spotter crew and take pics of the fight from the air. Endeavour was a planned trip to the CA Science Center as part of a weekend gymnastics tournament we were over there for.

Find good spots by the airport and take a good telephoto lens with you. Aircraft photography is a "planned trip" kind of thing usually. Or being able to monitor flight traffic and know where you need to be.
