We just did a video showing how molasses can prevent your water from freezing in these colder temperatures. We did different concentrations of the molasses in the water, we used a thermal camera to monitor the water/liquid temperature as time passed, and we throw in some humor because we're a couple of jolly old fellows. We hope it'll help some of you and your hens. Note, it wouldn't hurt to put out some plain water once a day as well, just to give the girls a chance to "cleanse their palette"! And some hens might not like the flavor, but our hens were drinking like fish. Have a view, please let us know if you have any comments. Note, we are the makers of the Pullet-Shut Automatic Chicken Doors (chickendoors.com) and the Everything Bee Vacuum (yes, a vacuum for beekeepers... AllMyBees.com ). Thank you!

Wow was this interesting! Good job you guys! :goodpost:

I would think this shouldn't be done daily though due to molasses acts as a laxative. A person can just keep an eye on their chickens and if they see them getting diarrhea, then cut back. Maybe this would be an idea for days when unable to get home and give fresh water.
