Avoiding the light...

So the light in the brooder is warming up one side to about 92 degrees. But the chicks all stay on the other side of the brooder, where its cooler. They are only 4 days old. Is this normal. Temp in the house is about 80ish, it's almost 90 outside.

They say you want the temp at 95 for the first week, then 5 degree decreases each week... but if you've got a hot blooded lady then maybe 90 is better... or if they feather fast, etc.

I'd raise the light up a few inches... see if that helps.
 
they know how warm they are...if they are on the other side of the brooder it's because they want to be..they obviously are warm enough on the other side. I have 13 in my brooder now and they are sometimes on the other side of it also...
