I may have a future broody in this batch. The cuckoo Marans has taken to tidbitting the other chicks. They're all seven weeks so I have no idea why she thinks she needs to mother them but it's cute. Yesterday, she called to the Sussex to encourage her to come up on the roost by her. I've never seen a chick act like this.

The lady who hatches for me, says that baby silkies often mother the other chicks. That mothering trait must start young for them.

I have a sebright mothering my silkie chicks. She was just 7 weeks when they came to the house only days old... now she has taken to hissing at me (without any noise) and today I found one under her wing, which I find hilarious given she is also a bantam and still a chick herself!
