I am so excited, I started in poultry about a year and a half ago with full grown bantam crosses. Then I got some full grown sebright hens. I had about 10 chickens total and had a hatch. It was an EXTREMELY GREAT hatch i think we hatched 14 out of 17 eggs. Of course we go au'naturel since we dont have an incubator. Our hens are good at sitting. Anywho, we got about 6 or 7 hens out of that hatch and they have adopted their mommies sitting genes lol. I like to call them "good mommy" genes. We bought 36 cortnix and 12 button quail as well as 11 americana and aracauna. They have all started laying except for the aracana and americana (they were chicks and the quail were half grown). Our wonderful bantys have insisted on sitting again so we decided with 4 hens sitting to put em to good use

we ordered a dozen bobwhite eggs and added some pharoahs and a couple buttons as well as their own eggs of course. The Bobs will be at 17 days today. I am happily awaiting my first quail hatch its sooooo exciting. I cant wait! Is there anything special I should be expecting? Are they much different from the chicks I know they basically come out of the egg running. Is there anything special i should know as I await my first quail hatch?

Did I mention how excited I am?

Congrats on the eggies.. They are very similar to chicken chicks other then the speed.. These suckers can run like the dickens oh and they hop very high and very well... I just hatched over 160 coturnix and A&M eggs and had two Bobs hatch yesterday so far the Bobs just seem much more scared of people then the rest..
