I have 5 hens and 2 roosters I got from a friend of one of my sons, and I got 5 from a flea market that my daughter n law picked up for me.
The hatch rate has been around 90%.
I got these back in July, I have given eggs to different people, and they have had excellent hatches also.
They constantly lay 8 and sometimes 9 eggs/day, I keep them in a cooler with ice packs and it stays around 65* as long as we change them out 3 times/day.
I’m impressed with the egg laying, the healthy chicks that are hatching, and how fast they grow.
I’m have another breeder pen set up and will be getting double the eggs/day.
I wish I could find a market for them, if not we will be eating lots of quail.

I've heard people have had success selling at bird/small animal swaps and to people looking for feeders for other animals. You can also market the eggs themselves, especially around spring when people get chick fever.

Enjoy your bird wealth!

Thanks.
I had prostrate cancer surgery this year and I was down for a while and couldn’t go to work, I got bored and decided to start incubating any eggs I could get, so far it’s been chicken, Guinea and my son wanted some quail for eating, I watched a lot of YouTube videos and decided to try dry hatching since we are in a high humidity area, I have been very successful with chicken and quail but the guineas haven’t been good, but I think it was a fertility issue.
It’s fun and kinda addicting.
The for the advice.

You can also try Craigslist to sell excess eggs and birds. Sounds like you're doing something right with the good hatch rates. Wishing you well on your recovery from surgery, too.

Quail are amazing (and addicting) little birds, welcome to the club! You could also think about selling eggs on Etsy or eBay (though shipping eggs can be a pain!). If there is a large Asian population in your area, balut is another option (though that too is an art). Be careful at poultry swap meets, I sold $62 worth of quail and brought home slightly more than that worth of a red golden pheasant!

My DL picked up 5 hens for me at a flea market, she paid $5/bird.
Is that about right?

I wouldn’t mind trying some pheasant eggs.
They are longer period than a chicken right?
