Aww, Poor Zoii! (LOL!)

Poor Zoii! She got in the nest box today to lay her egg and when she was finished, her 5 lb butt flipped the nest box over on top of her! She was trapped in a milkcrate until I got home from class at 7:30. First thing she did when I pulled her out was ruffle her feathers and guzzle down some water and scratch (and make a BIG pooy). The only thing that was hurt was her pride! None of the other chickens laid today except her. Zoii probally cursed the other hens for not helping her out and they were too afaid to lay next to her! I guess that's what she gets for pulling feathers!

I wish now that I had gotten a picture, but at the time I was more concerned with making sure she was alright.

LOL, Zoii is my "queen of the flock" and a bully. The other chickens were probably making fun of her while she was stuck! It might be a good thing to knock her down a couple pegs, seeing how I'm introducing a new hen this weekend. Maybe the transaction will go a little smoother.

I'm definitely going to look her over again this afternoon just to make sure she's OK, AND nail down the milk crate/nest boxes so we don't have another episode. Aw, she knows now what its like to be a battery chicken!
