Sometimes there is just a bad hatch. I had a pretty good hatch myself, and all the chicks I brooded survived. If you give them feed and water, keep them warm, and don't cross contaminate with older birds, not much can go wrong!I wonder what in the world that was all about! Can I get an update on your ac chick? I find it doesn't look like the one I've seen but it could just be different.Ah, there's already a topic on this. I was just trying to look up why my AC looks so ragged
Did find some AC-page on facebook that claimed that when they look like that, they're more pure or somthing, dunno how much truth is in that yet, but dropping that notion here nonetheless.
Here's my little cuddlebug, looking more like some sort of vulture than a chicken
about 1/1,5 week

I have AC also. I have noticed that their wings and tails grow feathers, but the body under the wings have no feathers yet. Yes, they seem to grow slower as well. But they do catch up!So my chick is now 6 1/2 weeks old and no bigger than a normal 2 week old chick. She also only has feathers on her wings. She eats, drinks, poops ok. I've given her savea chick vitamin supplement, she's been wormed- everything looks ok other than the fact that she hasn't grown any in a month! I'm going to add some Brewers yeast to her feed- but I'm
Really not sure how else to help her! All of my other pullets are fully feathered and outdoors, being normal young chickens and she is still in the brooding box, going on almost 7 weeks now! Has anyone had this experience for this long? Thanks!
