Hi there!

I know Ayam Cemani are hard to sex when young and I know mine are too young to accurately sex...But can I (pretty) safely assume I have 2 cockerels and one pullet, by comparing the growth of their combs?

I have 3x Ayam Cemani chicks that are 5 1/2 weeks old. 2x of the AC chicks have larger combs compared to the 1x AC chick, whose comb looks almost non existent.

Any guesses here?

The black skin makes them difficult to sex because redness of comb early on is a sign of a cockerel, and that won't show with Cemanis. So you have to judge by comb size and wattle development. I think 2 and 3 are cockerels, but give it a couple more weeks if you want to be absolutely certain.
I agree with you. I had one as well, looked JUST like A pullet, and then all of a sudden, at about 4-5 months, “she” started crowing. Turned out it was a male. So you don’t know for sure until they grow.
