Ayam Cemani- hen or rooster?

I’m so sad!! I really don’t want to rehome “Blanche” lol, but my city ordinances says no roosters in city limits. And he’s such a beautiful bird. How loud will he actually get...? And thanks all for explaining the fertilized egg thing. I’m a newbie with raising chickens!

Hello All! I’m new here. Thankful for the community! Not sure I’m posting in the right category. I have an Ayam Cemani “hen” who is now about 2.5-3 months old and I’m starting to wonder if she may be a he. Everything I’ve seen of the roosters show longer tail feathers than the hens, and this morning she *might* have crowed? It was a little bit longer caw, not a cluck. I really hope I don’t have to give “her” up, as I’m not allowed to have roosters in my town. That’s what I feared. Any way to tell for sure aside from keeping “her/him” until they’re full grown? How soon do I need to rehome him before I start cracking eggs with baby chickens inside instead of yolks! Yikes

That will never happen unless you keep your eggs over 90 degrees.

All of my coops have a male in them so some of the eggs will be fertile. I put the eggs in the fridge and eat them.

Do you have to put fertilized eggs in the fridge for some reason? I generally keep mine on the counter, at least a week? (Total newbie here, sorry if it’s a dumb question )

Nope. If you keep them under 90°, there will be no embyos.
