Hello, I have some Ayam Cemani hens and it is ther first winter. How do they fair in the cold? Lows are 15 at night, high is 30. They are in an omlet coop at night and free range during the day.

Do you know the temps inside the coop? So long as you are closing doors and covering vents they should be okay.

Thank you. I have a thermometer in the coop and it gets down to 30 so far.
Not sure about their run... They spend most of the day in the yard.

I would not cover the vents at night nor would I keep water in the coop at night. Insufficient ventilation can cause condensation, and moisture can lead to frostbite. Just be sure the airflow is over their heads and not ruffling their feathers. Lack of ventilation can also cause a toxic buildup of ammonia in the coop.

I hadn't thought about water in the coop. That is a good point. Thank you!
