Hello all. We would like to get into the Ayam Cemani, the blackest of black - I mean from everything I've read they are completely black, even their organs. My question is are they recognized as show birds? Also, does anyone in the US have them for sale?

They Ayam Cemani is certainly a unique choice--I agree with you, they are quite interesting! But they are not very common in the United States, that I know of. Because of their rareness, they are not recognized by the American Poultry Association and therefore can't be competitive at poultry shows. Any breed of chicken can be shown, though, and I'm sure that showing them would increase the interest in the breed and eventually even lead to recognition.

X2. They aren't recognized by the APA, but can be shown (just can't go any farther than best of breed).
