For the past few weeks I have been observing my ducks pretty closely and noticed something about one of my hens. She has always had a somewhat pink/pale beak and I thought that it was just genetics. But now that I take a closer look, she has a much more angular head, a different slightly different beak shape and a much lower keel than my other ducks. She looks like an aylesbury but she seems to be slightly lighter that an average Aylesbury. I got her from Tractor Supply last year and in my experience they haven’t been the best with breeds. I asked for ameracaunas and got brown leghorns. I asked for asian blacks and got Domineque chickens. Is it possible that they mixed up the breed and gave us her in place of a Pekin, or does she just have a pale beak and low keel?

Where are you. The attached video is just a commercial. If you are in the US then you do not have an Aylesbury you might have a white layer but I don't want to watch the commercial. A picture of the duck and your location added to your profile would be helpful.

I didn’t attach the commercial I don’t know why it’s there, but I live in the north East in the US which is why I was confused in the first place. I can try to get a picture of her.

This is her. The photos aren’t the best quality but they should be good enough. She is the center of most of the photos so it should be hard to tell who she is.

I wouldn’t think most of the TSC stores or fees stores would have access to breeds such as Aylesbury but you never know I guess. Lol. If she was she should have a really obvious deep keel; I concur with Magnolia Ducks that you probably have a lovely white layer on your hands. :)

After all that bravado I can't tell. She looks big to be a white layer but you are right about her bill color. She looks happy and healthy. Enjoy her whatever she is.

Thank you for the help. It doesn’t really matter the breed but I was just curious about it. She is a very lovely duck and I am fine with whatever she is. :)

She could also just be a not to standard Pekin. Lol. Hatchery birds are so off sometimes... still awesome birds but don’t always look the way their supposed to. :)
