Aztec Ducks!

I just wanted to share that I got my first Aztec egg yesterday!!! Her abdomen isn't quite as filled in as I'd thought it would be but I have a suspicion that my BP laid it as the drakes don't seem to even notice my Porcelain duck hen. I feel pretty confident that it's fertilized It looks identical to my Calls eggs so I'm writing the breed on the egg as well. Then again, my BP hen seems to have a lot of Call qualities. I really love these ducks!

[Pierre duck drake]

This is the drake that *I* think is most handsome. I'm not sure how they're supposed to look but this guy really sticks out from the others. He was the smallest but has really filled out. I hope he's got the right look because he's also a sweetheart. I've got one that doesn't like to be handled too much and he will bite, but the other three are sweet and this one and Lucky are the sweetest. This is Pierre

I'll find a picture of Blue Belle or take a new one for you She's my one and only blue pearl Aztec. Diva is my Porcelain Aztec hen. I have a few Porcelain drakes. Belle has chosen Pierre (the drake that I like best) and I am pretty thrilled about that

Regarding the differences between Aztec's and Calls.......
Aztec's are a little larger than Calls, but still small bantam ducks. They also have longer bills and necks, which makes hatching easier for Aztec ducklings. Aztec's are recognized in two colors, porcelain which is like Pastel in Calls and Blue Pearl which is like Blue Fawn in Calls. The breed is still fairly new, so Belle seems to be heavy on a lot of Call genes. I'm really not confident enough to know if she's really far from what Aztec's are meant to be or not. She has proven multiple times that she can out quack my Calls Diva, my porcelain hen, is much more quiet and seems to be more like an Aztec. Belle is right in line with Calls size wise, where Diva seems to be where I think Aztec's should be. Pyxis mentioned that blue pearl Aztec's had mostly faded out so this color had to be created all over again, so I suspect that's why Belle is more Call like and Diva seems to be more Aztec like. Don't get me wrong, Belle isn't too far off from what I think of whenever I think of Aztec's. It's just that her Call genes are showing


Hopefully @Pyxis or @Knighstar679 will correct me if I'm wrong on any of this information.

Thank you! It's definitely an egg from my Aztec's. Nothing but Aztec's duck hens and drakes in there I plan on integrating all of my bantam ducks together at some point, but who knows when that will be

Diva is such a pretty girl! Pictures do not do her justice. She has a wonderful personality too. It's been rainy and messy so please overlook her muddy bill, even though she's hiding the messiest part in my hoodie

This is Lucky, the crooked drake that I've mentioned before. He has such a sweet face.

This is Blue Belle. She is a very bold and outgoing little hen. Her personality along with her being so adorable makes her pretty special. All of my Aztec's are a bit sunbleached due to having netting over their run, but I'm working on that.

I just wanted to share a picture of the wild looking egg one of my Aztec's laid today. I suspect this egg came from Blue Belle. Her usual egg is the bottom right, I believe, and has a slight bluish/greenish hue. The other egg (bottom left) looks a tiny bit brown in pictures but in real life it's more white. I believe that one was laid from my Porcelain hen.
