Now have a total of 9 hatched with 5 more pipped. Hasn't been as good a hatch as usual and I can't figure it out. I had quite a few that I had to toss between day 4-12..almost 1/2...yeah, they're all shipped eggs...no one has anything that I'm looking for around here.

I set 18 on day 18 and had 4 die from those. One never pipped...had a deformed beak...one died sometime between 18 and 20. The other two are still in the bator with the pipped ones but I candled them...no movement and no peeps. I'll wait another day to take them out.

I did receive to shipments of eggs today for a total of 36 that I will set tonight just before bed. My small bator has been scrubbed to death with bleach, including the light bulb. I opened the shipping boxes and took out the packaged eggs, then scrubbed my hands with disinfectant soap, removed the eggs and put them upright in cartons that had been placed in a 250 degree oven for 1 hour. I put a cloth over my flashlight like Miss Prissy and will not have to touch them to candle.

We'll see if these changes in practice will result in a higher hatch this time!!
