The babies are finally here, after months of waiting. SunnyDawn delivered them to me at work today. They spent the afternoon in the science room. The kids were crazed with excitement! We couldn't even let the kids hold them for fear of injury to the babies. I will take them back tomorrow.

Here are the babies, home in their brooder. They are finally all eating, drinking, and napping. I love naps!

It's the only time the little peepers are quiet.

Yep, met up with Sunny in Auburn this morning and brought 8 new chickies home with me. They're just the cutest little things

. Four blacks and four silvers. Thanks Sunny - it was great meeting you!

Thanks! They are soooo cute! They are already scratching in the bedding. It's a riot! Then, after they scratch, they fall asleep face down, like someone had cast a spell on them. So far, they are inside, but the cats are too interested, and eventually, they'll cause a huge dust storm. I'm going to reluctantly have to put them in the basement soon.

Hi Sunny, I wanted to let you know that the little black pullet I bought from you at chickenstock is doing great! She settled in without missing a beat. Today, all 3 youngsters are facing the challenge of a full day locked in the chicken tractor with the big girls. Everyone is being pretty cordial. I think they'll adapt!

How are your babies doing?

Adorable! What is that string I see in the picture? I'd be afraid mine would find some way to get into trouble with it.....

haha! that "string" was the wire to the LED thermometer. they dragged it around the brooder, but it never caused problems. it wasn't attached to anything dangerous. They are now nearly 9 weeks old, and doing great! Beautiful birds. Adorable muffy faces!
