Our babies arrived yesterday afternoon! We had given up on them arriving yesterday since it was already 3 pm, but then the call came in at 3:30. The kids & I jumped in the car - we couldn't get there & home again fast enough
I forwarned the kids that some might not have survived the trip or might not be doing well. I was pleasantly surprised to find 25 seemingly happy & healthy little cuties! We got 25 Black Australorps (pullets, I hope) from mypetchicken.com - even today they are all doing great! It's been tough to concentrate on school with the chicks in the next room! The kids discovered that if you tap on the brooder wall, the chicks will come running toward the sound. The chicks also seem to like glitter pencils.
They seem to be doing well - hopefully, I'm not missing anything. I checked on them during the night and then was laying in bed worrying that the thunderstorm would knock the power out and they'd have no heat.
We took a bunch of pictures and some video - once I figure out how to get them out of the camera and onto the computer, I'll post some here.
