babies hatched

I had a pair of Cayuga duck and the mom went missing I thought she was gone today I heard cheaping under and old car and she had 12 babies. What do u suggest should I leave them with her and just pen them up in the barn or should I put them in the brooder

How much help did she need from you to hatch those ducklings? She doesn’t need a lot more help from you to raise them. Not knowing your set-up, I’d pay attention to predator protection and food and water. That’s about it.

I assume she had a nest under the old car and that she is with the ducklings. You have to decide-is the area around her safe for ducklings?-Is there a chance they may be lost? You might want to consider penning the family until the ducklings are stronger. If you put them in a brooder they are more likely to ALL survive, but there is work for you to go along with it. she didn't need any help at all in fact I thought something had eaten her. But yes. now I am worried about dogs and cats not to mention other predators. I tried to shoo her to the barn and the turkey chased the babies. right now I have them fenced off in a corner of the barn but I feel bad that momma cant go outside.

right now I have 40 spitzhavens in the brooder so shouldn't be to much more work, but will she just start a new clutch. I don't want her to lay one nest after another

Momma will adjust. With dogs and cays it's more important to ensure he safety of the ducklings.
