They're coturnix! So little and cute! Like omg they're amazing. Not a great hatch rate (2/10 so far, only 2 possible left) but not too horrible for a warming light over a wine box with a Tupperware container and a hand towel, right?

You might grind up their feed in a coffee grinder or a blender for the 1st week. Congrats!

Yeah I did after the pictures haha. My husband was trying to help and just tossed some in there. They pick through it though and find the small pieces.

How long after a chick pips should I consider helping it? I'm afraid the membrane will dry out and it's chirping through the pip but hasn't zipped. It just keeps enlarging the pip bigger and bigger but not enough to get out.

Yayyyyy! Congrats!!!!
It's a better hatch rate than mine at least! (I got 1/18(due to the fact that my little brother 'helped me' turn the eggs several times lol ))

I'm not sure but I would just leave it. You don't want to open the incubator until a day or two AFTER they hatched. If you open the incubator there is a chance that they will die because of the sudden cold air.

I am definitely no expert but I hope this helps!

I thought with chicken chicks they have 3 days of yolk nutrition but quail have about 24 hours? I have to open it to move the two fluffy ones to a brooder.
