Hi everyone, yesterday i found to baby birds on the ground (one was dead and one was alive) a small bird built a nest in the space of the roof of my porch and the mom didn't build a very stable nest (she just put moss and twigs up there) the dad hit one of our windows and never came back while in the making of this nest guessing he died... but the mom had like 6-7 babies and they are super crowded up their, this one i found barely made it, ive been feeding it and its doing very good.. should i put it back up the the nest and just block the edges till they are fledglings? Any help would be good (ive fostered many wild birds but i dont know what this bird is, i normally get robins.)

If the mom is coming back to feed them it may be best to put it back. You may be able to or something underneath or beside the beats to help keep them in. But I'm no expert. I'll tag someone

@A_Fowl_Guy

I have her and have no sites of her sisters/brothers or her mother, can't here chirping or anything, im guessing my cat got the babies and a hawk got the mom or something making so much noise. She is doing a lot better and has her own little personality.

I put her in my old birds cage with an old baby hat (which she loves crawling in and taking her naps to stay warm) shes also flapping around and loves chirping constantly

Hi just thought after reading your story, how lucky was that little one, that you
came along, when you did. It is a shame about the other little one, also a shame what happened to the others. That is nature for you. Especially when it involves us when we least expect it. lol It sounds as if the 2 of you have bonded already. How are you managing in regards of feeding her. ??? I am a pensioner now, but when my kids were
small, they were having their breakfast, before school. There was a lot of whispering
around the table, plus giggling. Then i heard like screeching and these unusual
strange noises. The kids went very quite, and all at the same time, looked on top
of my kitchen cabinets. Then i could see 4 little heads bobbing up and down, then
their little beaks. All squawking looking for food. We lived near a large park, with loads
of trees. The night before my kids were out playing as it was summer. They had found
the Mother dead, when they looked further up towards this tree, they seen the nest
where the babies were. My boy was about 7yr and climbed up and got them. They
were worried as they knew their Mother was dead. So brought them in the house, hid
them in their bedroom, and sneaked them down, in the morning. They went off to
school, and i was in the garden, digging worms. lol Did not have a clue what to feed them. lol Then i rang RSPCA and shouted HELP. lol So we took them down, these 4 cute
little babies were Blackbirds, and about a week old. The RSPCA said we done the right thing, by ringing them. Of course we left them with them. My kids when they came
home, was happy for them. Thought i would share my memory, with you.
Good luck, :love
