baby chick and the heat lamp

I am a first timer and I picked up my araucana chicks yesterday. I was wondering about the heat lamp. Do you leave it on day and night? Or should I get another source of heat so the chicks can get some shut eye? Also do chicks need a lot of sleep like other babies do?
So far so good, any tips greatly appreciated!

HI, you leave the light on 24/7 (unless ambient temp varies, like keeping them outside in a warm climate). Chicks sleep and wake round the clock at this age. Congrats on your new babies!

I kept my light on all night. They need that warmth at this age. Good luck with your new chicks!
