I am new to having chicks and worried about this little one. I have 4 who just finished 5 days of corid Two days ago. One of the little ones just doesn’t seem to be as energetic as the others...And never really has. And every time she takes a dirt bath...she sort of goes a little ‘limp’....just wanting to sit and not walk around. She is just so sweet and loves being held...she is a Dominque (if that matters?). Am I just reading her wrong...maybe she’s just super friendly and calm? So far she seems fine otherwise...eating and drinking. I am giving them electrolytes In water and medicated chick starter. No other food or treats. Appreciate any help.

Plain water should always be available.

Post a photo or video of your chick for better feed back. Sounds like it could go either way as to calm personality or something more.

What is the age of these little ones?

Hope they are thriving indeed! :fl

Best pic I could get. She’s the darker one nearer to the mirror in the first pic and at the bottom in the 2nd. It’s so weird because after watching her for 10 minutes, now I think I am just being paranoid! Her stool seems fine and she ate fine. They are all 2.5 weeks old. UGH

They do all come running towards my hand when I put it in the box to pick them up...like they all want picked up first. I have been spending a lot of time trying to ‘tame’ them so I can handle them easier when they are adults. She, in particular, comes running over and stands Very still against my hand Waiting to be picked up. And she is very calm when I hold her...like she really likes it. It’s just that dirt bathing that seems to be weird with her. Last time it was as if she became ’stuck’ on her back while scuffing around in the dirt.

Hmmm, she seems fine in your pics, maybe just keep some corid and watch her closely.

Such a cute little (Bared Rock?) baby!! Seems well behaved too.

Yea...the medicated feed thing seems to be quite the controversy. I guess I leaned towards it because of all the reading I did about coccidiosis and how it may ‘help’. But...it didn’t. They got it anyway (or one or two did) and they hadn’t even been exposed to anything outside at the time! (Except from the hatchery for 1 day). So...I am 3 bags healthy here Of medicated food and committed to it for right now. Might re-think it next time tho.
Are Dominque’s normally very docile, calm and friendly as chicks?
Yes...you are seeing a bared rock too! She is a doll...very well behaved. She is called Roxy. I also have a Buff Brahma (Buffy) and a white rock (Bella). And my little Dominique is called Dew Drop. So...easy to tell I am attached to them by now and a worry wart about them. Such a new and fun adventure!
