I am a mess right now. I just finished hatching my eggs and I have decided today to switch the chicks into a brooder. I noticed that one of the chicks is hopping around and cannot use its left leg at all. This is a chick that I had to help with the hatching process as it was not coming out of its egg, even with the top part of the egg completely hatched.

What should I do? Killing it is not an option... Should I bring it inside the house with me and take care of it from there? Should I keep it with the others and hope for the best?

Remind me in the future not to incubate/hatch eggs during my own pregnancy.... I am a hormonal mess right now

Yes, bring it inside and put in a brooder with a heat lamp. If possible, bring in another chick as well, one who is the most passive, so the hurt chick won't stress about being alone. He/she may have slipped a tendon. Do a search here on this board for diagnosis info and if need be, directions on repairing the tendon. If it is the tendon, it needs to be repositioned and taped immediately, else the chick won't ever walk normally.

I had a chick hatch out just like that yesterday, and after a few hours in the brooder it was fine.....I think their poor little muscles get kind of cramped towards the end when they fill up that egg.......

I think it'll be fine soon.......

Crossing my fingers for ya!
